It’s the casting news we were all hoping for, but one of the many major Marvel news stories coming out of Hall H at Comic-Con was that we now have our Captain Marvel; and it’s Brie Larson.
Many fans had been speculating the Room star for the role for quite some time – with a dream casting shortlist that also included the likes of Emily Blunt – but the news is now official.
You’ve gotta love Comic-Con.
After she was in attendance at the event to promote the trailer for Kong: Skull Island, she popped along to the packed Marvel panel to announce that she will indeed be playing Carol Danvers in the studio’s first female-fronted flick, due out in 2019.
Larson confirmed the news to us unlucky enough to not be in attendance with this Tweet:

Captain Marvel has been written by Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy) and Meg LeFauve (Inside Out), and is currently set to land in cinemas on the 8th March 2019.
