SDCC 2018: DC announce three animated movies in 2019… and one of them is Hush! UPDATED: Posters added for movies

July 21st, 2018 by Marc Comments

Well, had a few hours sleep, so time to get right back into the SDCC 2018 news.

DC’s animated movie output every year can be a mild bag… but when they are good they are REALLY good and we have hoped for the latest announced titles. Expecially the first one.

The 2019 slate was announced at the San Diego Comic-Con panel it was revealed that their next batch of movies contains one of the biggest events in the Batman lore: Hush.

Yes, the book that brings together all of Batman’s main enemies – and Superman – and gave the romance between Catwoman and Batman a big boost, not to mention gave us Jim Lee’s awesome art, is coming to animated form. And its coming in summer 2019.

And man, we hope they find a way to mimic Lee’s art. And, while it hasn’t been announced, we’d like to think it will be a two parter.

Still, it’s no Long Halloween.

After that, in spring 2019, the Justice League returns for Justice League vs. The Fatal Five. Originally composed of supercriminals Tharok, Emerald Empress, Validus, Mano and the Persuader, the Fatal Five were first introduced in 1967 and are more commonly associated with the Legion of Super-Heroes. While they have appeared in animation before, both on Justice League Unlimited and on the Legion of Superheroes animated series, they’ve been largely dormant for a while. This is an original story, and there’s much we don’t know about it. Is it set in the future or the present day? Will the Legion appear? Which Justice Leaguers will we see? Only time will tell!

And the last move of the year will feature Wonder Woman in an original movie called Wonder Woman: Bloodlines.

No idea what it’ll be but we’re waiting in anticipation nonetheless.

UPDATE: Reign of the Superman, the sequel to Doomsday, got a first look video:

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
