Well, it’s not new news that Boba Fett could well be the focus of one of the new Star Wars Anthology movies that will begin with Rogue One (here) but now it’s back and gathering steam…
With the rumours all along being that the second Anthology movie will focus on a group of bounty hunters, led by Fett, who are trying to steal the plans to the Death Star from a group of rebels who stole them; and then Rogue One being confirmed that it will focus on a group of rebels stealing said plans, we reckoned right away that there’s something to all this… and that the Anthology movies may tell an over-arcing story too.
Now that we know director Josh Trank (here) is no longer helming the second Anthology movie (Joss Whedon is free now… just sayin’), it seems that news has leaked and confirmed the movie WILL focus on Boba Fett and will be an ‘origin story’ now.
Given that we know who Boba is, and indeed the trauma of losing his father when he was a child (In Episode II: Attack of the Clones), we would have to assume that either the rumours aren’t exactly right or it will chronicle his training to become a Bounty Hunter. We always felt that Cad Bane and Aurra Sing would play a big part in this as set up in The Clone Wars series… and we’d love to see that chapter fill in what Boba was up to between Clone Wars and The Empire Strikes Back.
The second Anthology film is expected to arrive in 2018.
