So now that – we presume – Robert Downey Jnr is done with Marvel for a while, we may be getting the long anticipated Sherlock Holmes 3.
Now we know this isn’t the first time we’ve thought it was happening as Downey Jnr himself said it would film in 2016 (here) while Watson actor Jude Law hinted it was happening late last year (here) but now we’re hearing the movie will film early in 2020 and there’s rumours of where the plot will take the duo of Holmes and Watson.
The movie’s “setting is expected to be the Old West in the United States, specifically San Francisco, California”.
It is known that Holmes creator Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was friends with famed magician Harry Houdini and American law enforcement agent William J. Burns, who Doyle referred to as the “American Sherlock Holmes”, so it could certainly see the famed detective meeting up with some real historic characters… I’d love to see a Holmes/Houdini movie.
The movie will likely be directed by returning director Guy Ritchie and is due on December 21st, 2021.
