After the big news at SDCC that Blumhouse are making a Spawn movie with creator Todd McFarlane at the helm, we have some cool new inside details.
McFarlane has given us a cool perspective on the movie – it could be the story of a cop who’s in pursuit of Spawn.
Fans of Spawn will remember that waaaaaaaay back in Spawn issue one we weren’t just introduced to the main character but also to Twitch Williams – he’s the guy on the right in the image above – the cop who knows more is going on alongside his partner Sam Burke (he’s on the left).
“There’s two big roles in the script. There’s obviously sort of Spawn himself, although in a weird way it’s not the biggest role, and then there’s the cop. The cop is this character Twitch who’s been there since issue #1. Twitch is the role in this one, and I sort of refer to him as my sheriff Brody, who is the sheriff in the Jaws movie. Although it was called Jaws, Jaws didn’t really talk a lot in his movie, right? He just kind of showed up at the opportune time to make the movie worthwhile.”
We love the idea that the movie may be told from the point of view of Sam and Twitch, the two characters seeing what’s happening and trying to get to the bottom of it all… although McFarlane didn’t mention Sam, we reckon it’s a given we’ll see him too.
