Get ready for the new daily show

Star Wars Episode IX moved back to Christmas 2019 release

September 12th, 2017 by Marc Comments

With the news earlier today that Star Wars: The Force Awakens director JJ Abrams was returning to the Lucasfilm fold to film Star Wars Episode IX (here), it’s probably not a big surprise to learn that the movie has now been pushed back six months.

The movie was originally set for release on May 24th, 2019.

However, the new date is December 20th, 2019 – the same date as the live action Aladdin and one week after Wonder Woman II is due to arrive.

So that’s a big couple of weeks for folks like us, then.

So there you have it, a big day of change for Star Wars… but nothing we can’t deal with.

The Force is still strong with this one.

Star Wars Episode IX hits theaters on December 20th, 2019.

Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer.
