Well, it looks like casting is already underway for Star Wars: Episode VIII…

Word on the grapevine, or nerdvine if you like, is that Gina Rodriguez (Jane the Virgin), Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black) and Olivia Cooke (Me and Earl and the Dying Girl) are all in the running for the female lead.

You may recall that Maslany was a hopeful for A Star Wars Story: Rogue One and was even tipped by many to be a familiar character (here). Well, it seems that maybe Disney/Lucasfilm liked here and kept her in mind for a different role.

Apparently there are a few others in the running and they won’t be decided upon until after they read with The Force Awakens star John Boyega before the end of September.

So, there you have it… we like all these actresses and can easily see them in the Star Wars universe. But as who? That’s the big question…
