A new poster has beamed down for Star Trek: Beyond (and yes, I made a ‘beamed down’ pun and I won’t apologise).

The poster features the eye of Kingsman: The Secret Service star Sofia Boutella as new alien Jaylah.

We’re loving the planet-like look of her eye in this…

“Star Trek Beyond,” the highly anticipated next installment in the globally popular Star Trek franchise, created by Gene Roddenberry and reintroduced by J.J. Abrams in 2009, returns with director Justin Lin (“The Fast and the Furious” franchise) at the helm of this epic voyage of the U.S.S. Enterprise and her intrepid crew. In “Beyond,” the Enterprise crew explores the furthest reaches of uncharted space, where they encounter a mysterious new enemy who puts them and everything the Federation stands for to the test.

Directed by Justin Lin from a screenplay written by Simon Pegg and Doug Jung, Star Trek Beyond stars Idris Elba, Chris Pine, Simon Pegg, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, John Cho, Anton Yelchin, and Karl Urban.

The film is scheduled to hit theaters on July 22nd from Paramount Pictures, following its world premiere at San-Diego Comic-Con. Taking place on Wednesday, July 20th, the premiere will be an outdoor IMAX screening at Embarcadero Marina Park, complete with a live performance of the movie’s score by the San Diego Symphony Orchestra.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
