So last week the trailer for Detective Pikachu dropped and totally stole the thunder from the Toy Story 4 teaser by being totally adorable, fun and awesome (here) – and yes, we’re already hearing rumours of shared universes and Pokemon live-action cinematic universe.
But now we have the poster for the movie which opens next summer and, while it looks like just a random street with Pikachu sitting in the middle of it, closer inspection will reveal a cornucopia of Pokemon awesomeness, like:
•Moo moo milk – restores 100hp
•Eevee – a popular gen 1 poke
•Johto, kanto, unova -regions
•Charizard poster
•A missing charmander poster
•Machamp and Mankey fight poster
•Lickitung
•Posters and neon signs of Jiggly Puff, Loudred, Psyduck and Machamp
•Berry posters
•A Pokemon daycare poster
•Rare candy poster
Special thanks to my son, Caleb for those – look, I was too old for Pokemon when it came out, ok!?
So let us know what you spotted, fans!
Although, I do think the trailer looks great and will definitely be from the line to see it.
But I have a lot of Pokemon lore to watch up on…
The story begins when ace private eye Harry Goodman goes mysteriously missing, prompting his 21-year-old son Tim to find out what happened. Aiding in the investigation is Harry’s former Pokémon partner, Detective Pikachu: a hilariously wise-cracking, adorable super-sleuth who is a puzzlement even to himself.
Finding that they are uniquely equipped to communicate with one another, Tim and Pikachu join forces on a thrilling adventure to unravel the tangled mystery. Chasing clues together through the neon-lit streets of Ryme City—a sprawling, modern metropolis where humans and Pokémon live side by side in a hyper-realistic live-action world—they encounter a diverse cast of Pokémon characters and uncover a shocking plot that could destroy this peaceful co-existence and threaten the whole Pokémon universe.
Pokemon: Detective Pikachu is set to release in theaters on Friday, May 10th, 2019.
