The Terminator gets a new writer to clean up the existing script

November 19th, 2017 by Marc Comments

The future of the Terminator franchise is, it seems, in pretty safe hands.

So far we know that James Cameron is back producing the franchise that he created with the first two superb instalments and with Deadpool’s Tim Miller directing. We also know that Arnold Schwarzenegger and Linda Hamilton will be back as the Terminator and Sarah Connor respectively.

Now we also have a writer to look after it all moving forward.

Empire are reporting that Captain Phillips and Hungers Games’ Billy Ray is currently working on the script which, based on a story by James Cameron and written by Josh Friedman and David Goyer.

The new movie is set for summer 2019 and will take place after Terminator 2, meaning that it will basically ignore the other sequel movies as well as the Sarah Connor Chronicles TV series… and, while we’ve enjoyed them all to varying degrees, we will be happy to get back to the pure timeline created by Cameron.

That’s all we have for now Terminator fans but we’ll be back.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
