Time for some hot news about one of my absolute favorite things, the DC Animated Universe.

This one I’m going to file under “My 5 Year Old Son’s Dream Come True”. Attendants for a special theatrical event for DC’s Return of the Caped Crusaders, reteaming 1966 icons Adam West and Burt Ward, were given surveys to gauge interest in upcoming animated movies in the works.

Among them was a special crossover teaming Batman with those heroes in a half shell (turtle power) the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Now if you keep up with comics you already know the Dark Knight has adventured with the Turtles in the pages of a special DC/IDW crossover, so the idea is not from left field. One would only hope that if this movie does see the light of day that the best Batman ever, Kevin Conroy, as well as the current cast of Nickelodeon’s Ninja Turtle cartoon come together to voice the characters.

Other animated projects mentioned in the survey were a Swamp Thing movie, which would be interesting given the Justice League Dark movie in the works, as well as a teaming up of the ’66 Batman crew with Wonder Woman based on the 1977 Lynda Carter vehicle. Of course none of these are actually confirmed as forthcoming, so one can only hope with fingers crossed, while holding a rabbit’s foot, underneath a doorway with a horseshoe hung overhead…while wishing upon a star.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
