With Paramount hoping to expand the Transformers franchise to the next, shared universe level (here) it looks like the movies may be taking a turn for the better.
Akiva Goldsman, Michael Bay, Steven Spielberg and Lorenzo di Bonaventura had already created a writers’ room to develop the universe of Transformers and now it has a few more bums in seats for the gig.
Impressive ones – writers, not bums.
The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman has signed on, as has Iron Man writers Art Marcum and Matt Holloway along with Fringe and Lost scribe Jeff Pinkner and, finally, X-Men: The Last Stand and The Incredible Hulk‘s Zak Penn is there too.
Here’s the honest truth, we at FTN are divided over the Transformers franchise to date, but it boils down to us all liking some parts and hating others. But what we aren’t divided over is our love of the characters and the potential these stories have. And we’re heartened by some of the talent called upon here, especially Kirkman and Pinkner, so let’s hope things can only get better for Prime and the rest of the Cybertronians..
