So, we knew the third TRON Movie was likely happening and now we’re even closer to it being a reality…
Word is that Norwegian filmmaker Joachim Rønning, who directed Maleficent: Mistress of Evil and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, is in discussions about returning to The Grid.
Following on from fan-favourite TRON: Legacy, the movie will continue the story of the world within The Grid, a virtual word created by Jeff Bridges’ Kevin Flynn in the 1982 original TRON. The sequel in 2010 starred Garret Hedlund and Olivia Wilde and was directed by Top Gun: Maverick’s Joe Kosinski (give him a Star Wars movie, you cowards!) and featured Daft Punk’s amazing score which, no doubt, played a big part in the movie’s success.
Jared Leto says they’re ‘hard at work’ on the next TRON
That movie actually set up Cillain Murphy as the villain of a third installment but it took so long, it’s unlikely it’s going to happen now.
The new movie, TRON Ares, will star Jared Leto and while nothing ie really known about it, the absence of Kosinski and Daft Punk – they retired in 2021 – means this movie, which we have all been very excited about for a long time, will have an uphill battle… but it’s by no means an impossible one.
Are you excited to see where TRON goes with new a new cast and director? And no Daft Punk? Let me know, folks…
