‘We’re hard at work on TRON 3,’ says star Jared Leto

April 18th, 2022 by Marc Comments

Some good news for TRON fans tonight as Jared Leto reveals that work is underway for the third movie in the series.

Sometime ago Leto revealed, or seemed to, that the movie will be called TRON: Ares around the same time we learned that this movie will not (boooooo!) be directed by TRON: Legacy’s Joe Kasinski but rather by Lion’s Garth Davis (here), but, on the plus side, we believe that Daft Punk will be back for scoring duties, which is great new (here).

So far we have no news on whether or not Garrett Hedlund, Olivia Wilde and Jeff Bridges will be returning.

Anyway, keeping with the good news.

Leto has been linked to the third movie for several years at this stage and, while promoting Morbius, the question was asked if there was any news to share, to which Leto seemed pretty positive we could have something soon: “I’m a super fan of Tron, and we are working hard on Tron with our incredible partners at Disney. Just an amazing group of creative people. We’re getting closer. We’re getting closer and closer, and who knows? Something may be [coming] sooner than later.”

Hmmmmmm… will we get official news about the movie soon? And will Cillian Murphy, set up in TRON: Legacy, be the movie’s villain? Who knows, what I do know is that I’m a big fan of the TRON Movies – and TRON: Uprising, the animated series is superb too if you haven’t seen it – and I will be very excited to hear what’s coming. I just hope it’s soon as it seems like forever since this all was being set up.

Thoughts?

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
