UK top ten box office countdown (WE 12th May 2014)

May 14th, 2014 by Irwin Fletcher Comments

This week I’ve decided to do the top 11 films, more on that a little bit later…

We have a new number one, putting the reign of The amazing Spider-man 2 to a end, so give a round of applause to comedy Bad Neighbours which has found its way to the top spot thanks to it taking over £5.5 million in its preview six days before official release, overall takings for the film were just under £8.5 million putting it behind Ted as the second highest grossing debut 15 rated comedy.

Into the rest of the chart and the reason why I’ve done a top 11 is to include The Wind Rises, now I know I’m being slightly biased, however with this being the last movie by Hayoa Miyazaki it needs to be mentioned, plus the film only opened up on a small 48 screens and still managed to take a healthy £199,598.

Other new films – and one event – in the chart include comedy drama Frank which went in at number 10, opera La Cenrentoia: Met Opera which hit the number eight spot and thriller Sabotage which hit one place higher at number seven.

New Releases: Only one film of any note is out this week and that’s Gareth Edwards’ take on the monster movie Godzilla.
