Venom 2 will have Shriek as a secondary villain… and Spider-man is coming?

October 16th, 2019 by Marc Comments

It looks like Woody Harrelson’s Carnage won’t be the only villain in Venom 2.

A new report has it that Shriek will be in the movie too and is currently a role that is being cast for the upcoming sequel with the studio “looking mostly at unknowns right now”.

In the comics Shriek was “A drug dealer named Frances Barrison became the volatile Shriek after severe trauma allow her latent mutant powers to emerge. In the comics, those powers include sonic energy blasts, flight, and the ability to stir up dark and violent emotions in others.”

She has been linked to Carnage since Maximum Carnage in 1993, so it makes sense she may appear in the movie.

In related news, director of Venom – but not Venom 2 which is being directed by Andy Serkis – has been doing the press rounds for his movie Zombieland 2 and, as expected, the MCU/Venom thing came up… and apart from him being surprised it wasn’t well received by critics (“I was really bummed that people didn’t like it because it’s a crowdpleasing movie and I’m not sure if there was just blowback against Sony or people just worship Marvel”), he seems confident that Peter Parker and Spider-man are coming into the Venom movies: “That’s where it’s all going to lead.”

“And that’s the exciting thing, because we changed the origin of Venom … in the comics, he evolved from Spider-Man but because of the Marvel-Sony thing we weren’t able to that. And so the thing I think it’s building towards, and will be exciting to see, is when they actually do confront each other.”

So Shriek and Spider-man…. does Venom 2 have your attention yet?

Let me know your thoughts, folks.
