Villeneuve reveals upcoming Dune movie is actually two movies

April 15th, 2020 by Marc Comments

Following on from all the cool images appearing from the upcoming Dune movie, we now have another cool bit of info for fans of Frank Herbert’s epic sci-fi tale.

It looks like we don’t have a Dune movie to look forward to, but rather TWO Dune movies.

Now, I have to be honest, I have never read the Dune books – though I may use this new-found time to rectify that – but I understand, from my friends who have read it, that it is a complex world, a complex and layered tale full of rich characters, plot and politics; and therefore, the movie must take its time and dwell in the these details.

And it seems director Denis Villeneuve shares that belief: “I would not agree to make this adaptation of the book with one single movie,” he says.

“The world is too complex. It’s a world that takes its power in details.”

I’m pretty sure this will make a lot of fans very happy, indeed and, given that Villeneuve brought us Arrival and Blade Runner 2049, you should be confident that this is in safe hands.

What say you all? I want to hear your thoughts, gang.

A mythic and emotionally charged hero’s journey, Dune tells the story of Paul Atreides, a brilliant and gifted young man born into a great destiny beyond his understanding, who must travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe to ensure the future of his family and his people.

As malevolent forces explode into conflict over the planet’s exclusive supply of the most precious resource in existence—a commodity capable of unlocking humanity’s greatest potential—only those who can conquer their fear will survive.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
