Further to our story yesterday about Hugh Jackman saying on the Chappie press tour that he reckons Wolverine could beat Batman (here), he’s been talking more and whetted a million fans’ appetites for what is truly the stuff of dreams…

Talking to Yahoo! movies, the Wolverine himself, said about the potential of the X-Men meeting the Avengers on the big screen: “I’m surprised by what’s happened with Spider-Man joining [Marvel]. You’re in a very complex world where big, big sums of money are being spent for different franchises and so getting them together is difficult.

“Two years ago I’d have said you’d be a real optimist to think it’d ever happen,” he continued, “but weirdly now I just think it maybe could. I think there is the possibility that it will happen.

“You know, I think as an optimist I would love it…”

True believers, however, will know that the relationship between Marvel and Fox is a very troubled affair, so we must say this is unlikely. But, you know what? If Wolverine believes, then who the hell are we to argue, bub?

Needless to say, should things ever develop, we’ll be sure to bring you details asap.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
