Want to know who the bad guy will be in Sony’s Morbius movie?

October 17th, 2018 by Marc Comments

With Sony’s Venom making solid money despite critic bashings, it seems that the Sony Spider-man movie universe is moving ahead as planned.

The next movie for Sony is Morbius starring Jared Leto. The movie will tell the story of Dr Michael Morbius who, dying of a rare blood disease, creates his own serum made from bats’ blood and which turn him into the vampiric Morbius because… comics!

So who will the villain be? Well, here’s the details:

Loxias Crown is the villain.

Who?

If that name doesn’t quite ring a bell it’s because Loxias Crown doesn’t exist in the comics…not by that name anyway. It seems as though Sony might be adapting the mutant supervillain Crown, who later went by the name Hunger and came into conflict with Spider-Man and Morbius.

Crown first appeared in 1997’s Spider-Man #76. If Sony is adapting Crown here, they’re making some serious alterations to the characters history. In the film, Loxias Crown suffers from the same rare blood disease as his good friend Morbius. Like Morbius, Loxias will be transformed by the serum that Moribus developed to cure them and the film’s main conflict will center on Morbius trying to stop the killing machine Loxias has become while also fighting off his own blood lust.

Anyone else getting a serious Blade vibe from this? Anyway, I seem to be the only one at FTN who enjoyed Venom – but it is deeply, deeply flawed – so I’m genuinely optimistic to see where the Sony universe goes next… just pleasemake good movies!

Let us know your thoughts, gang.
