WATCH: Charlie Cox addresses the ‘will The Defenders and The Avengers ever meet?’ question

August 20th, 2017 by Marc Comments

With The Defenders finally arriving on friday past (sorry, we’ve not had time to watch it yet for a review) Charlie Cox, who plays Matt Murdock/Daredevil, has been doing the inevitable press circuit.

While speaking to The Radio Times (full video below), the actor was asked the now age-old question of will The Defenders and The Avengers ever crossover.

The results are pretty obvious, but Cox manages to keep it interesting: “I have no idea,”  he says.

“I’ll tell you this much, it doesn’t matter what I say, guaranteed first thing tomorrow morning: ‘Cox confirms!’”

We can understand his caginess given the modern online state of entertainment journalism. However, he does know that Daredevil and another major Avengers character have a history in the comics that he seems keen to make happen (although, ahem, it may be a little self-serving): “Well, Matt Murdock at one point dated Black Widow… make that happen!” he said.

You can watch the full interview below (that even sees Ghostrider drawn into the conversation) but don’t be expecting any big revelations:

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
