WATCH First trailer for Morbius drops and, well, this certainly seems to link to the MCU

January 13th, 2020 by Marc Comments

Finally! We have the trailer for Morbius: The Living Vampire from Sony and, well, it’s pretty much  impossible to argue that this isn’t connected to the MCU.

SPOILERS

In the first instance at 2.09 into the trailer Jared Leto’s titular character walks past graffiti on the wall of Spider-man – albeit the suit from the Raimi movies as it appeared in the Spider-man game a couple of years back.

Next, right at the end of the trailer Michael Keaton puts in an appearance (“What’s up, doc?”) – now, is he playing Vulture as we saw in Spider-man: Homecoming? It’s not made clear int he footage but honestly, if I had to guess, I’d say that yes he is.

SPOILERS END

If I had to guess, I’d say Spider-Man exists in a little bubble universe that links the Sony movies and the MCU and this means that while we will see Venom (for example) fighting Holland’s Spider-man but will not see him fight, say, The Avengers.

Does that make sense?

Anyway, check out the trailer and let know your thoughts…

One of Marvel’s most compelling and conflicted characters comes to the big screen as Oscar winner Jared Leto transforms into the enigmatic antihero, Michael Morbius. Dangerously ill with a rare blood disorder, and determined to save others suffering his same fate, Dr. Morbius attempts a desperate gamble. What at first appears to be a radical success soon reveals itself to be a remedy potentially worse than the disease.

Directed By: Daniel Espinosa

Cast: Jared Leto, Matt Smith, Adria Arjona, Jared Harris, Al Madrigal with Tyrese Gibson

Morbius arrives on July 31st, 2020
