WATCH: Fun first trailer for DC’s Blue Beetle movie flies in

April 3rd, 2023 by Marc Comments

We finally have the first trailer for DC’s upcoming Blue Beetle movie and it looks like a lot of fun!

The movie stars Cobra Kai’s Xolo Maridueña as reluctant hero Jamie Reyes who finds himself paired with an alien scarab that gives him, literally, out-of-this-world powers.

The movie also stars Susan Sarandon as the villain of the piece, Victoria Kord and if you look closely, you’ll see some details that will have the original Blue Beetle fans more than a little stoked. The movie was feared scrapped after Batgirl was canceled earlier this year but unlike that movie, it seems the powers that bee like the look of Blue Beetle and have pushed some extra money at it to make it a big deal in cinemas (it was a HBO Max movie originally).

Recent college grad Jaime Reyes (Xolo Mariduena) returns home full of aspirations for his future, only to find that home is not quite as he left it.

As he searches to find his purpose in the world, fate intervenes when Jaime unexpectedly finds himself in possession of an ancient relic of alien biotechnology: the Scarab.

When the Scarab suddenly chooses Jaime to be its symbiotic host, he is bestowed with an incredible suit of armour capable of extraordinary and unpredictable powers, forever changing his destiny as he becomes the Super Hero Blue Beetle.

Cobra Kai alum Xolo Maridueña stars as Jamie Reyes, the first stand-alone Latino-led superhero movie with a Mexican American teenager.

George Lopez, Susan Sarandon, Harvey Guillén, Adriana Barraza, Damián Alcázar and Bruna Marquezine co-star in the film.

Angel Manuel Soto (“Charm City Kings”) will helm the film which releases on August 18th.
