WATCH: Oliver’s Halloween video review 1: Hellraiser II: Hellbound

October 3rd, 2013 by Irwin Fletcher Comments

Halloween is on it’s way and Oliver – our awesome retro movie reviewer – has decided to look at some classic, but under appreciated – horror flicks.

Kicking off the October Horror Season with the gruesome Hellraiser II. The first movie was a surprise hit, produced on a small budget and being Clive Barker’s directorial debut of a feature film it shocked audiences with its graphic violence and gore and introduced the iconic character Pinhead, the leader of the Cenobites.

Hellraiser II takes place directly after the first movie and follows the victim Kirsty as she struggles to come to terms with the loss of her father and dealing with the cenobites. The film got pretty much negative reviews all round due to its incoherent plot and over reliance on gore but some critics praised it for its visual design and scope for a low budget feature.

Did the Hellraiser movies scare you or were they just a bunch of movies that relied on too much gore and failed as scary films? .
