We hate to say we told you so. But… we told you so.
After screenings of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 last night – the overall opinion being the movie is really solid, has a lot of heart but isn’t as good as the first – it’s been confirmed just who exactly Sylvester Stallone will be playing in the movie: Stakar Ogord, better known as the superhero Starhawk. Which we reported a month ago.
(Continues after pic)
Word is that Stallone will be part of Yondu’s Ravagers. But Stallone himself has added more details to the character’s role, saying: “Stakar had banished Yondu many years earlier for doing something wrong and he finally sees him almost twenty years later at this particular establishment called the Iron Lotus where all of the Ravagers go to blow off some steam. And then we have a confrontation which is pretty intense and it’s kind of a father/son type of thing and now he’s going to have to pay the piper. His karma has come back ten-fold.”
It’s pretty cool to know that Stallone will play such an integral part of the MCU, isn’t it?
Name not ringing a bell? It’s ok. Starhawk is one of original Guardians of the Galaxy. No, not the 21st century version, the 31st century version. Who was the actual original GOTG…comics everyone.
Now, to add to the fun of this, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 had the production name of Guardians 3000, which was the name of the original team, and the name of a Marvel comic that depicted that teams adventures…which included Starhawk.
Oh and we hope you don’t get a numb behind while watching Vol 2 because it’s going to have five, yes five, mid/post credit scenes. SO yeah, make sure you hang around for this one… going on what we’re hearing, the screenings last night got four of the scenes, so we assume an additional one will be attached to theatrical versions.
