We finally have a good look at Warner Bros/DC’s upcoming Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom and, despite all the failed screenings and rumours that Warners have given up on trying to fix the movie’s issues (as it’s the last movie in the DCEU that was), this looks pretty solid.
So, the new teaser, below, is out to whet our appetites for the full trailer on Thursday ahead of the movie’s oft-delayed but now-confirmed December 20th release date.
It’s hard to imagine the movie coming anywhere close to the first movie’s billion-dollar success, especially after the terrible record DC has had on screen over the last while but it’s likely to be a fun night out around Christmas for a lot of people and I’m looking forward to being one of them.
In a recent interview star Jason Momoa revealed that he helped write this new installment in the DCEU: “I loved [Aquaman] so much that I, you know, participated in the writing of [the sequel]; and so we did the first treatment and then James and our original writer David [Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick] finished it off and, you know, all of our hearts are in it.”
The movie will see Momoa return as Arthur Curry, the Aquaman, with fellow returning stars Amber Heard, Willem Dafoe, Patrick Wilson, Nicole Kidman, Yahya Abdul-Mateen and Dolph Lundgren. Game of Thrones’ Euron Greyjoy star Pilou Asbæk has been added to the cast in an unconfirmed role.
Wan will once again be directing.
Thoughts? I know you have them! Voice-off in the usual ways on FTN’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram

Having failed to defeat Aquaman the first time, Black Manta, still driven by the need to avenge his father’s death, will stop at nothing to take Aquaman down once and for all. This time Black Manta is more formidable than ever before, wielding the power of the mythic Black Trident, which unleashes an ancient and malevolent force. To defeat him, Aquaman will turn to his imprisoned brother Orm, the former King of Atlantis, to forge an unlikely alliance. Together, they must set aside their differences in order to protect their kingdom and save Aquaman’s family, and the world, from irreversible destruction.
All returning to the roles they originated, Jason Momoa plays Arthur Curry/Aquaman, now balancing his duties as both the King of Atlantis and a new father; Patrick Wilson is Orm, Aquaman’s half-brother and his nemesis, who must now step into a new role as his brother’s reluctant ally; Amber Heard is Mera, Atlantis’ Queen and mother of the heir to the throne; Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is Black Manta, committed more than ever to avenge his father’s death by destroying Aquaman, his family and Atlantis; and Nicole Kidman as Atlanna, a fierce leader and mother with the heart of a warrior. Also reprising their roles are Dolph Lundgren as King Nereus and Randall Park as Dr. Stephen Shin.
