Oh, my…
The first teaser has dropped for Godzilla: Minus Zero and while it’s only a few seconds, it is something to behold and has us all at FTN pacing the floor in anticipation of this sequel.
From CinemaCon, writer/director Takashi Yamazaki shared new details on what we can expect when the titan arises this November.
The movie’s runtime is around the same as the first film, a little over two hours, it will have a bigger budget – very evident from the trailer… that last shot, lads!… with Yamazaki saying “each shot that requires VFX is more complex than [the first film]”.

Something else that the trailer hints at, is that this time around, the movie will have both Japanese and English dialogue, with the US military featuring heavily this time out.
“[One part] was probably one of the best kaiju sequences that I’ve ever seen. Given my career, I think it’s very hard to get excited about VFX shots, but the fact that I got goosebumps looking at [it] means audiences are going to see something they’ve never seen before,” Yamazaki says.
And yes, there will be another threat in the movie as well as Godzilla and, if you look very closely, that threat is strongly hinted at in the teaser below.
Godzilla Minus Zero picks up in 1949, two years after the tumultuous events of Godzilla Minus One, and continues the story of the Shikishima family as they face an all-new calamity.
Additionally confirmed out of CinemaCon, Ryunosuke Kamiki, the hero who faced Godzilla’s terror in Godzilla Minus One, returns as Koichi Shikishima, and is joined by Minami Hamabe as Noriko Oishi, who miraculously survived Godzilla’s first attack on Tokyo.
As a project Filmed For IMAX, Godzilla Minus Zero was shot with high-definition digital cameras certified by IMAX, and optimised in sound and imagery unique to IMAX screens. Fans can look forward to seeing Godzilla presented to all-new terrifying heights, making Godzilla Minus Zero in a true cinematic event not to be missed.
