We learned from New York Toy Fair 2018 why the Millennium Falcon in the Solo movie has that weird nose piece

Ever since the leaked art from Solo: A Star Wars Story (above), fans have been wondering why the Millennium Falcon looks so different in the movie… the gun and dish we get but what’s the deal with the nose?

Many believed this art wasn’t official (it is, well, it will be used on toy packaging etc) and then the teaser trailer hit (here) and there’s the ship in its new, pointy nosed glory.

And why is it pointy?

Well… SPOILERS…

It appears to be an escape pod/ship!

Yes, the upcoming LEGO set clearly shows what the point is in the movie, while the Hasbro toy isn’t as explicit but does also show the nose lying beside the rest of the toy.

Does this make sense? Is this why the Falcon has always had that distinct look?

Let us know your thoughts…

So it really looks like it’s an escape pod which, presumably, will be jettisoned in the movie at some stage…

It’s not just the LEGO set either as the same detail can be seen in the Hasbro Falcon, so we reckon this is official and not just an effort of ‘explain away’ the details:

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
