Ever since the leaked art from Solo: A Star Wars Story (above), fans have been wondering why the Millennium Falcon looks so different in the movie… the gun and dish we get but what’s the deal with the nose?
Many believed this art wasn’t official (it is, well, it will be used on toy packaging etc) and then the teaser trailer hit (here) and there’s the ship in its new, pointy nosed glory.
And why is it pointy?
Well… SPOILERS…
It appears to be an escape pod/ship!
Yes, the upcoming LEGO set clearly shows what the point is in the movie, while the Hasbro toy isn’t as explicit but does also show the nose lying beside the rest of the toy.
Does this make sense? Is this why the Falcon has always had that distinct look?

So it really looks like it’s an escape pod which, presumably, will be jettisoned in the movie at some stage…
It’s not just the LEGO set either as the same detail can be seen in the Hasbro Falcon, so we reckon this is official and not just an effort of ‘explain away’ the details:
