As we all know by now, Will Smith and Margot Robbie have joined David Ayer’s Suicide Squad as Deadshot and Harley Quinn and now the two are talking about where they are at with that right now…
Talking to USA Today, the duo were asked about the news that Tom Hardy dropped out of his role as Rick Flagg and if it had an impact: “We’ve still got to get it right,” said Smith.
Robbie adds: “This happens all the time. People act like, ‘Oh my god, the movie must be ending!’ It’s just the deal with movies.”
But what about playing these bigger than life characters in a movie that will be deeply, deeply scrutinised?: “A lot of the characters haven’t been portrayed before so it’s a pretty big undertaking,” says Robbie.
“And it’s a big undertaking for the people who are going to play the characters who have been played, like the Joker [Jared Leto]. It’s big shoes to fill.”
Have they started training for their super-villain roles?: “Oh god yes,” says Smith, “I started before Christmas. No carbs on Christmas! It was terrible.”
Robbie pipes up: “Oh, I ate everything on Christmas. I’m not strong though. To do all your own stunts you have to be so strong.”
We reckon Robbie looks like she’d in just perfect condition for the role. Ahem.
David Ayer is rumoured to begin shooting on April 13th.
