Jeremy Renner has made his disappointment with Hawkeye’s lack of exposure in The Avengers more than clear, and to be fair he has a point.
Introduced in 2011’s Thor, Hawkeye spent most of The Avengers wearing sparkly contact lenses and acting as Loki’s spider-eating man-b#@ch. Although he will appear in next year’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, Clint Barton hasn’t had the same exposure as some of the other characters. That could change however; as Renner has hinted that he might show up in the third Captain America movie.
Speaking with Collider.com recently, Renner was asked about his upcoming schedule and revealed he might have to free up some time: “There are rumblings of Captain America 3. I don’t know what’s going to happen there. I’ve got to find the time, man (laughs). I’m trying to stay home and I can’t.”
SuperHeroHype.com raised Hawkeye’s possible inclusion with returning directors Anthony and Joe Russo. Anthony Russo specifically stated that he cannot confirm anything: “Unfortunately we can’t [comment]. It’s too specific to what the movie may be.”
Joe chipped in however, stating: “There are certainly characters that Cap is close to or has a strong relationship with that would make sense appearing in his films. I think that’s all we can say about it.”
With writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely apparently back on board, Captain America 3 is scheduled for release on 6 May 2016.
