Wonder Woman eyes directors, Lex Luthor set for Suicide Squad and BvS teaser ready to go?

October 26th, 2014 by Marc Comments

Some cool DC/Warner superhero news for you tonight, folks…

First up, THR are reporting that the Wonder Woman spin-off coming in June 2017, is searching for a female director to pick up the reigns.

On the list are: Kathryn Bigelow (The Hurt Locker), Jennifer Yuh (Kung Panda 2), Lexi Alexander  (Punisher: War Zone) and Patty Jenkins who was originally set to direct’ Thor: The Dark World.

While there’s nothing even remotely certain here, my hopes are pinned on Bigelow who directed my all-time favourite action movie, Point Break, and who has proved with her oscar for The Hurt Locker, that she’s the perfect director to mix story, character and action.

Deadline are reporting that Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’s Lex Luthor, Jesse Eisenberg, is set for David Ayer’s Suicide Squad movie in August 2016.

They are also reporting that the Squad in this version will be made up of: “superstrong Blockbuster, the self-replicating Multiplex, the speedster Jaculi, the illusion-casting Mindboggler, the original Captain Boomerang George Harkness, the animal mimicker Vixen, and Floyd Lawton aka Deadshot.”

Where Luthor will fit in is anyone’s guess at this point, but it would be a nice way to tie things together.

And finally…

Could we see the Batman V Superman teaser (possibly the one below that was recorded at SDCC 2014) before the end of the year?

Rumours are abound that the teaser is complete and ready to role out with a big movie this winter.

According to Batman On Film: “The first teaser trailer for the film is complete and ready to go. The overt hint I got from these folks is that the teaser will be revealed this Fall along with a November or December film release (and online, of course). I have no idea to which specific film it may be “attached,” but New Line’s (which is Warner Bros.’ sister company) THE HOBBIT: THE BATTLE OF THE FIVE ARMIES is being released on December 17, 2014.”

So, could DC steal the limelight from Marvel this Christmas? Big ask, but if there’s one superhero teamup that could do it…

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
