Zack Snyder talks about forming the Justice League on screen

A consistent criticism levelled at Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice in recent weeks is that it’s simply giving too much away. While Star Wars: The Force Awakens conducted a masterclass in generating buzz when promoting the film while keeping it shrouded in mystery, Dawn of Justice hasn’t followed the same path.

Dawn of Justice’s second trailer seems to be particularly revealing, showing us the first meeting between Ben Affleck’s Bruce Wayne and Henry Cavill’s Clark Kent, as well as Lex Luthor’s masterplan, Wonder Woman and the introduction of Doomsday. We hope we’re wrong, but the end of the trailer appeared to basically show the film’s climactic scene, when Wonder Woman flies in to save a made-up Batman and Superman.

The director was asked about his role within the rest of the DC Extended Universe and he had this to say:

“I love Batman and Superman and Wonder Woman, but having Flash and Aquaman and Cyborg and to see them all standing together, it’s a pretty dorky and cool experience for me,” he told USA Today (via Squareeyed).

Now, he could be talking about seeing the team in meetings or in concept art, but it also sounds like he’s saying the final moments of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will see all the members of the Justice League standing side-by-side. And to be fair, that had been rumoured for some time. Of course, we know Dawn of Justice is a bridge to the first Justice League film – obviously – but Snyder is certainly treading on eggshells considering the barrage of criticism he’s come in for recently.

For the record, our spoiler-heavy report a couple of weeks ago had a theory that we might see the whole Justice League in the movie’s credits – you can read that here.

Synopsis: Following his titanic struggle against General Zod, Metropolis has been razed to the ground and Superman is the most controversial figure in the world. While for many he is still an emblem of hope, a growing number of people consider him a threat to humanity, seeking justice for the chaos he has brought to Earth.

As far as Bruce Wayne is concerned, Superman is clearly a danger to society. He fears for the future of the world with such a reckless power left ungoverned, and so he dons his mask and cape to right Superman’s wrongs. The rivalry between them is furious, fueled by bitterness and vengeance, and nothing can dissuade them from waging this war. However, a dark new threat arises in the form of a third man: one who has a power greater than either of them to endanger the world and cause total destruction.

The superhero stand-off that the world has been waiting for is finally arriving in cinemas, with an all-star cast bringing to life the characters we all love. Zack Snyder (300) returns as director following the huge success of 2013’s Man of Steel, along with Henry Cavill (The Man from U.N.C.L.E.) in the role of Superman. Also starring Ben Affleck (Gone Girl) as Batman, Amy Adams (American Hustle) as Lois Lane, and Gal Gadot (Fast & Furious 7) as Wonder Woman, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is an explosive, action-packed blockbuster that is sure to thrill DC fans everywhere.
