Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead gets anime series and movie prequel

September 3rd, 2020 by Marc Comments

Ooooooh… big news for the world of Zack Snyder’s upcoming Netflix horror/action movie Army of the Dead.

Netflix today confirmed that the movie is the start of a movie universe as such, with an anime prequel series announced called Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas, along with an ‘international prequel’ movie.

The series, presumably, will tell how Las Vegas fell to the zombie plague – the movie is about a heist in a Las Vegas over-run by the undead: “A zombie plague hits Vegas, and they’re able to contain the virus to the city – they build a wall out of shipping containers. And then the city falls. And six years later, one of the casino owners hires this group of zombie soldiers to go get his money that he left in a safe in the casino.” – while the movie will, again presumably, show how the virus took over the whole world.

Shay Hatten will write the prequel and the animated series, with Matthias Schweighöfer directing the prequel that’ll revolve around his character from Army of the Dead.

Interestingly, Lost Vegas will focus on Dave Bautista’s character from Army of the Dead and Snyder himself will direct two episode of the series.

Army of the Dead stars Dave Bautista, Ella Purnell, Ana De La Reguera, Theo Rossi, Huma Qureshi, Garret Dillahunt, Omari Hardwick, Hiroyuki Sanada, Raúl Castillo, Nora Arnezeder, Matthias Schweighöfer, Tig Notaro, Samantha Win and Rich Cetrone.

Army of the Dead hits Netflix in 2021.
