We were excited for the return of The Tick TV series and, especially FTN favourite Patrick Warburton returning in the title role.

But it seems now that we’re in for a disappointment.

It has been revealed that Amazon have picked up Ben Edlund’s comic character for a pilot, which is great, except it’ll be an all-new cast.

Edlund himself will write and produce while the new cast will include Vinyl’s Griffin Newman as Arthur Everest and House of Lies’ Valorie Curry as his sister Dot Everest. Transcendencehelmer Wally Pfister is currently favourite to direct with Sony Pictures TV producing it.

The rest of the cast and release date etc have still to be confirmed.

In the new incarnation, the blue suit-wearing Tick is recovering from a memory loss. He ends up re-teaming with Arthur to fight evil. Newman’s Arthur, played in the Fox series by David Burke, had been labeled as a schizophrenic because of his statements that evil plans to rule the city, and no one believes him until he runs into Tick. Curry’s Dot Everest is a nurse who loves her brother Arthur to death and worries about him.

Are you excited or, like us, are you Tick-ed (ahem) of about the new cast? Let us know.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
