The BBC are pushing ahead with their plans for Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials… and we know a lot of you will be delighted to hear it.
The series is being looked after by New Line Cinema and Bad Wolf (the production house set up by Jane Tranter and Julie Gardner who helped bring back Doctor Who, hence the name).
Executive producer Jane Tranter says: “[TV format will allow them to] capture the expansiveness of the story and worlds of Lyra and Will across many episodes and seasons.”
Philip Pullman added: “In recent years we’ve seen the way that long stories on television, whether adaptations (Game Of Thrones) or original (The Sopranos, The Wire), can reach depths of characterisation and heights of suspense by taking the time for events to make their proper impact and for consequences to unravel.”
The series has still no expected air date but it is expected to film in – shocker! – Wales later this year.
