Well, we’ve known for a while now that Superman was set to become a presence in Supergirl season 2.

The show, which jumps over to The CW for its second season form CBS, is now officially part of the Arrow, Flash and Legend of Tomorrow universe, so having Superman in it is pretty exciting.

And now we do indeed ‘have’ a Superman in the shape of Teen Wolf star Tyler Hoechlin (below) who will play Superman AKA Clark Kent AKA Kal-El opposite Melissa Benoist’s Supergirl for at least the first two episodes of the season.

On the casting, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said: “Greg [Berlanti] and I have wanted to work with Tyler for ages, so this worked out perfectly because Tyler is Superman. We are so thrilled and humbled to add another amazing actor to the legacy of this iconic character.”

We have no idea how Superman will fit into the so called ‘Arrow-verse’ but we’re excited to find out, especially since he’s now an actual character rather than an occasionally glimpsed streak or silhouette.

Supergirl will return this fall.
