Yeah, it’s happening, groovy.
Starz is going to air a 10-part half hour miniseries based in the Evil Dead universe, titled Ash vs. Evil Dead. And in case you missed the title, Bruce Campbell will be Ash once again.
“I’m really excited to bring this series to the Evil Dead fans worldwide,” Campbell said in a statement. “it’s going to be everything they have been clamoring for: serious deadite ass-kicking and plenty of outrageous humor.”
Sam Raimi will executive producer the project and will also direct the pilot.
Raimi added, “Evil Dead has always been a blast. Bruce, Rob [Tapert], and I are thrilled to have the opportunity to tell the next chapter in Ash’s lame, but heroic saga. With his chainsaw arm and his ‘boomstick,’ Ash is back to kick some monster butt. And brother, this time there’s a truckload of it.”
The mini-series will take place 30 years after the original film, and will feature an Ash who’s been avoiding the Evil Dead for that whole time, but now is being forced back into action.
Ash vs. Evil Dead will air on Starz in 2015.
