July 26th, 2020 by Marc Comments

Our first look at HBO Max’s second Adventure Time: Distant Lands episode it here and it feature Marceline and Princess Bubblegum, so we’re excited!

The new episode, called Obsidian, follows May’s first episode BMO and features Marceline and Princess Bubblegum travelling to the Glass Kingdom and their past, so it promises new characters and events, so we’re all in!.

Finn the human and Jake the dog are coming back to our screens! Yes, after ten seasons ending last year and a failed (though very good) eleventh on the printed page, Adventure Time: Distant Lands, a series of four new one-hour specials, is coming to HBO Max beginning in 2020.

Sarah Aubrey, head of original content, HBO Max, said: “The enchanted world of Adventure Time has mesmerized viewers and critics alike as Finn and Jake right wrongs and battle evil. “The addition of these specials to the HBO Max kids and family programming lineup is sure to make kids everywhere say ‘Slam-bam-in-a-can!’”

The four episodes are as follows:

  • BMO follows the lovable little robot from Adventure Time. When there’s a deadly space emergency in the farthest reaches of the galaxy, there’s only one hero to call, and it’s probably not BMO. Except that this time it is!
  • Obsidian features Marceline & Princess Bubblegum as they journey to the imposing, beautiful Glass Kingdom—and deep into their tumultuous past—to prevent an earthshaking catastrophe.
  • Wizard City follows Peppermint Butler, starting over at the beginning, as just another inexperienced Wizard School student. When mysterious events at the campus cast suspicion on Pep, and his checkered past, can he master the mystic arts in time to prove his innocence?
  • Together Again brings Finn and Jake together again, to rediscover their brotherly bond and embark on the most important adventure of their lives.
The new specials will air on the steaming service next year and are set to be produced by Cartoon Network Studios although it’s not yet known if creators Pendleton Ward and Adam Muto or any of the original team behind the show will be involved here.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
