Could there be a Sabrina and Riverdale crossover happening in the future?

January 28th, 2020 by Geralt of Australia Comments

Ever since the debut series Chilling Adventures of Sabrina on Netflix, fans have been wondering if it will at some point cross over with Archie in Riverdale.

Now some of you may know this already, some of you may not, but both were originally created by the one and only Robert Aguirre-Sacasa.

So with this being said, it has been addressed that if it was to happen then a character – or characters – from Riverdale would have to be somehow transported to the future and not just some one-off gimmicky event.

Robert himself actually had some things to say on the matter, saying: “Well honestly, it’s funny, I’m a fan of all of this and I love crossover episodes, but I think… if we were to ever do it, it would have to be more meaningful than a gimmick and really reveal character and really push the story forward. I absolutely think there is a universe where that happens, but you would want it to really resonate with that and really make it thoughtful and make it deep and special. There’s tons of Easter eggs, allusions to other Archie characters in Sabrina and I think that’s a really fun element of it. But no, you’re right, it would have to be more than just a gimmick.”

Now, personally I haven’t seen much of Riverdale, but I am a huge fan of the Sabrina series, but with the series being so short I’m not sure how well something like this would fit in unless they were to extend it to 12-15 episode seasons.

Adding to this, Riverdale star Camila Mendes addressed the issue to but seems to think it’s very unlikely:  “Well no I don’t think so because they’re a Netflix show,” she said at the IMDb studio. “If they were on CW I think we totally would, but I think we will crossover with Katy Keene [The CW’s new series which is also based on an Archi character], which is coming out soon.”

But, even with all this said, The CW recently proved with the Arrowverse’s Crisis On Infinite Earths event that nothing is impossible.

Either way, I’m rather looking forward to seeing what mischief would go down if this was to happen, in the mean time stay nerdy folks.
