Did star Wyatt Russell tease the return of Steve Rogers in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier?

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier star Wyatt Russell, who plays the new Captain America, John Walker, has dropped a very interesting quote recently that has got us wondering… could we see the real Captain America return?

In the new Marvel series on Disney+ Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) AKA the Falcon, despite being given the shield by Steve Rogers AKA Captain America at the end of Avengers Endgame, decided that he didn’t want the legacy of the title and instead put it in the Smithsonian. He was shocked to later find that the US government had gone ahead and appointed their own new Captain America in the form of Walker.

Now, while the show is only four episodes (of six) in, it’s pretty clear that Walker is going off the deep end and sooner or later, the shield will have to be taken back – preferably by Sam. Or maybe Bucky AKA the Winter Solder AKA White Wolf (Sebastian Stan). But most likely Sam.

Now, in the MCU timeline, at this stage the original Captain America is an old man, long since retired and reportedly done with the whole Avengers thing.

However…

In a recent interview on BBC Radio 1 Russell was asked if he’s ever met Chris Evans and his response was… odd. To say the least.

The star said he may have “walked by him somewhere and made eye contact.”

He then went on to tease “You just gotta wait until the end of the series and then everybody will be like, ‘Oh, wow’.”

What does that mean?!

We are pretty sure from a recent ‘mid-season’ trailer that a Civil War-style showdown between Walker and Sam and Bucky is coming (watch it below) but what if Steve Rogers appears to take back the shield and give it to Sam again?

Could you imagine? The three beating the crap out of each other and Rogers, having learned his mistake after his showdown in Civil War, just appears to stop the fight and take back his shield… even only temporarily?

Now, this isn’t as out-there as you’d imagine, given that there was a lot of talk in January this year about Evens returning to the MCU fold (here) for, among other things, a few cameo appearances.

We’re hearing there’s a big, as yet unseen, Marvel character set for tomorrow’s episode… but could we finish up the series with the return of Captain America?

Let me know your thoughts, guys.
