Has Gotham enlisted another of Batman’s Rogues Gallery… with a difference?

Those Who Kill star Michelle Veintimilla will play new character, Bridgit Pike, “a firestarter and vengeful supervillain who goes by Firefly,” in episodes five and six of Season 2.

Now, anyone who knows Batman will know that Firefly is one of his enemies in the comics who, despite having a few aliases, has never been a woman. Having said that, there was speculation last week that Joe Fitzpatrick might be Firefly (here) and we reckon the announcement below might give a clearer picture of what is happening.

TVLine, who originally broke the story said of the character: “[she] enslaved by her brothers, a notorious gang of arsonists… Bridgit Pike is forced into the family business. When she catches the eye of Selina Kyle, the young Cat Woman and the soon-to-be-Firefly team up to put Bridgit’s firestarting skills to good use. But after a deadly encounter with the Pike Brothers, the meek Cinderella is transformed into a vengeful supervillain, hell bent on destroying those who have wronged her.”

So, the ‘Firefly gang’, huh? Looks like, as the show has done before, this is just paving the way for the firefly we know from the funny books.
