With Scream VII set to go into production later this year with the original series final girl Sidney Prescott, played by the wonderful Neve Campbell, making a return, the actress has been talking about her return to the iconic role that made her a household name and one of horror’s most loved leads.
Playing Sidney for the sixth time, the actress will this time be directed by Kevin Williamson, the writer – or creator, if you prefer – of the whole series, so it’s likely that this one will be a dive into the lore and what Scream really is all about… so, as a fan, I’m stoked for this one.

Anyways, on to Campbell’s interview; “I’m really excited that Kevin Williamson is going to direct,” says Campbell. “I think he’s been wanting to do it for years and he deserves it. This is his baby. He’s going to do a phenomenal job.”
The actress, now aged 50, was famously not in the sixth installment in the series after she was offered to low an amount to return and at the time, she said on it: “I honestly don’t believe that if I were a man and had done five installments of a huge blockbuster franchise over 25 years that the number that I was offered would be the number that would be offered to a man.”
However, she has been enticed back again this time and it seems that, while the money is better, she’s also happy to be back playing the role that made her: “I’m really grateful that the studio heard me when I talked about pay discrepancy and when I talked about not feeling respectful.”
And on playing Sidney again, she adds: “I’ve lived with Sidney for 30 years, and I’m really, really grateful to get to go back to it,”
I’ve loved Sidney ever since I saw the first movie in 1996 when it came out and she remains one of my favourite horror movie characters, so having her back is warmly welcomed as far as I’m concerned.
