It looks like the Watchmen are heading to TV for sure now as HBO orders a full season for 2019.
The series will be based on the acclaimed DC Comics from Alan Moore and artist Dave Gibbons. HBO announced the revelation with the teaser below.
The show will star Regina King, Jeremy Irons, Don Johnson, Tim Blake Nelson, Louis Gossett Jr., Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Adelaide Clemens, Andrew Howard, Tom Mison, Frances Fisher, Jacob Ming-Trent, Sara Vickers, Dylan Schombing, Lily Rose Smith and Adelynn Spoon.
This means that Lost’s Damon Lindelof will now be showrunning the superhero series at HBO. And we honestly thing that, despite the news that the series will not be based strictly on the graphic novel, despite the official synopsis saying: “Set in an alternate history where ‘superheroes’ are treated as outlaws, Watchmenembraces the nostalgia of the original groundbreaking graphic novel while attempting to break new ground of its own.”
We’ll find out who watches the Watchmen in 2019.
