Ok, so, spoilers…
We all know that Iron Man/Tony Stark died defeating Thanos at the end of Avengers: Endgame and, as such, this meant that Robert Downey Jr was done with the MCU.
But, let’s be honest, we always knew there was a chance he might return somehow. And now it may look like he is. Sort of.
Remember a while ago Downey Jr said he believed that Riri Williams AKA Iron Heart should be the Iron Man replacement in the MCU:
The real story here is that @RobertDowneyJr said publicly in a room full of people that #Ironheart should be in the MCU. I went straight back to the press area afterward and was like YOU ALL HEARD IT, WRITE THAT DOWN https://t.co/WoursjnRdW

So, in the comics Riri stole Stark’s tech and made a suit of her own and, typically impressed, Stark decided to let her keep it and become a hero herself. Then, when Stark was in a coma, Riri basically took over the Iron Man mantel. As you would.
Anyway, how does this bring Downey Jnr back into the MCU?
Well, rumours abound that Disney+, the Marvel streaming service, is developing an Iron Heart series – to go along with Hawkeye, Moonkinght, WandVision and all the others – and they may be looking for Downey Jr to voice the suits Riri uses ala Paul Bettany’s role pre-Vision in the MCU.
Honestly, while not the worst idea in the world, it feels like, should it happen, it’s just a desperate attempt to sell a series on the star’s name without him really even being in it.
But, hey… that’s not to say a Riri series may not be good. But does it need Iron Man to sell it?
Let me know in all the usual ways guys.
