Few bits of news from the Marvel/Neflix front tonight guys, so get comfy…

First up, it looks like Jessica Jones, the second series from Netflix/Marvel, is set for a fourth quarter 2015 release according to CBR.

We knew this already but we’re guessing this will be closer to Christmas now, so that’s nice… ho ho ho!

Jones is a crime fighter and a P.I. in New York City. We also know that Luke Cage will be in the series. It will star Krysten Ritter and Mike Colter, as well as David Tennant, Rachael Taylor and Carrie-Ann Moss.

At the Television Critics Association press tour held today, Netflix CCO Ted Sarandos, talked about Daredevil series 2 and the eventual Defenders series: “I think ideally there will be a rhythm of about every six months you’ll get a new season or a new series from the Defenders group.

“And then they’ll crossover into a combined [Defenders] season once we’ve launched the first season of each of the four characters. Some will selectively have multiple seasons as they come out of the gate. So they’ll probably be two launches a year.”

He also confirmed that the in-production Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist could all have second seasons if they are as successful as Daredevil. He also confirmed that Punisher, who will appear in Daredevil Season 2 played by Jon Bernthal, may well get his own series or even TV movie if he’s a hit: “That’s the beauty of the Marvel universe. Any of them could spin out into films too,” he said.

In related news…

The Hashtag Show (below) is reporting that a source, who has come up with the goods before, is saying that Netflix and Marvel are looking at putting together a Thunderbolts TV series for their phase two line-up.

We have previously heard that Ghost-Rider and Punisher are possibles for the second phase of the MCU TV universe, so maybe there’s something to this.

The Thunderbolts are similar to DC’s Suicide Squad in that it is made up of villains who have reformed and now work for the side of the Angels. There is already quite a few of the members of the team – like Thunderbolt Ross AKA Red Hulk, Elektra, Punisher, Agents of SHIELD’s Mr Hyde and Crossbones who we’ll soon see in Civil War – spread across the MCU.

This could certainly be a great way to tie the movies, SHIELD and the Netflix shows together and we certainly hope it happens.

Anyway, here’s the report…

It looks like, while Marvel have the movie schedule tied up for the next few years, anything can happen on the small screen. Who’s excited?

Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer.
