As we all know, Kevin Smith has been directing an episode of The Flash and he’s pretty tight with the folks at DC and on hs Podcast, Fatman on Batman, he’s been talking about the recent crossover between Supergirl and The Flash and hints at bigger things to come.
We loved the crossoever episode (Supergirl: Worlds Finest), sure it was a bit light and fluffy, but it expanded the DC TV universe in a wat that made us giddy, so we’re up for much more of that.
And Smith believes we may have more. And soon: “That was the cool part of the show was getting spoiler information about future episodes, because, between the episode that had aired and the episode I was directing, there was like four episodes that I hadn’t seen,” the director said.
“So they gave me two episodes to watch, and without the special effects done and stuff, so I saw them doing a lot of this s*** and what not. And that actually made it less intimidating, because I was like Oh, I can handle this. Just shoot this and they add the effects later on, but they were talking about the crossover in a way that it was the first of many, and they told me something that I’m not going to f****** share because it will ruin the end of the season for you, but it is amazing.
“Something’s happening that will affect Supergirl in such a great way, that, you think it’s like cute puppies and f****** kittens now? You are going to cry when you see how beautiful this f****** thing is.”
What could it be? It seems that the show may be about to take a turn for the darker… but how? (Continues after the podcast below)
In related news, speaking to EW, Arrow/Flash executive producer Andy Kreisberg was asked if there could be a Kara Danvers (Supergirl) on Earth 1 AKA where Arrow and Flash are and he answered in a very interesting and, yes, exciting way: “Any Kara that exists on Earth 1 would also have to have been an alien. It can’t just be Kara Danvers from Poughkeepsie.”
Pushed on whether this could mean Supergirl or, another of Kara’s comic alter egos, Powergirl could exist there too, he answered: “Sure, different costume, but sure.”
OK, so we got from this that they are defintiely thinking about Kara existing on Earth 1 and they are thinking about costumes… already?
Could this be linked to what we’re hearing from Smith? Could Kara find out that she’s not the only Supergirl, perhaps? Will we see her as a regular in both shows? Who knows, all we know is that it’s a great time to be a fan of comicbook shows, that’s for sure…
