By now, every hardcore fan of Game of Thrones knows what happens in the first episode of season 5 of the TV series. The premieres this year happened slightly earlier so all the storylines and major plots are out on the internet. You can catch up here.

Let’s start with the isolated world – Essos. As per the trailers, it is mildly convincing that this season might be promoting Daenerys’s cause more than the others. Two trailers have been released with two extra previews and each of them revolves around how the Khaleesi is going to break the wheel.

Meereen
“Lannister, Baratheon, Stark – they are just spokes on a wheel. This one’s on top, and that one’s on top, and on and on – crushing those on the ground. I’m not going to stop the wheel, I’m going to break the wheel.”
She has an army of 10,000 unsullied soldiers through which she hopes to break the wheel. And, all in all, they are pretty much the only power she has right now. All her dragons are worthless for her, at least for now. Drogon, the black one is wandering over the skies of Southern Essos, eating goats and burning little girls. And she herself locked her other two dragons in the dungeon. In one of the scenes from this first episode, she goes off to visit her locked dragons in the dungeons, but they are so furious that they start breathing fire here and there. She is scared and pretty much in shock seeing this.

In another scene of Meereen, the unsullied soldiers are seen tearing down the statue off the giant pyramid of Meereen (as seen in the trailer). A few moments later, some of the unsullied soldiers enter a brothel to have a good time, but they are killed by men in golden masks. Book readers will recognize them as the sons of the Harpy. This opens two major storylines – it leaves Missandei wondering, and another, pressures Daenerys to do something about the violence in the city.

Pentos
A little further to the west, we arrive at Pentos. Tyrion Lannister falls out of the wooden crate he was smuggled into from Westeros, and he is accompanied by Lord Varys. Tyrion starts drinking and drinks so much that he starts throwing up. After he gains some sobriety, he does something we all do after vomiting – drinks again. They both have a good chat about who should rule Westeros. Varys pretty much shows that he will be Dany supporter from here on and will never trust any Westerosi leader.

Bravos
Unfortunately, there are no scenes from Bravos in the first episode. We will have to wait one more week to see what Arya is up to. There is a small sneak peek from the Arya’s scene in the House of Black and White, so you might want to quench your Arya-thirst with it.

King’s Landing
At King’s Landing, Cersei and Jaime are in Tywin’s quiet funeral. Typical Cersei starts manipulating Jaime by making him feel guilty about their father and how Tyrion killed him. All she wants is revenge in the form of Tyrion’s head. A very religious Lancel Lannister arrives at the funeral with Kevan Lannister, the sight of which leaves Cersei mildly shocked. Lancel asks for forgiveness about his behavior about everything, but Cersei just scoffs and blows it off. This scene introduces the sparrows, which are the new character profiles entering this season.

Oh, did I mention that there is a little Cersei this season? There is a flashback scene where Cersei remembers being told by a fortune teller that she will be a queen but will be replaced by a much more beautiful queen. Margaery? Daenerys? Ser

Loras? Who knows..?

Dorne and Sand Snakes
Jaime has still not gone to Dorne, and this may be the reason why Oberyn’s daughters are not introduced in this first episode. Just like Arya’s scene, we might have to wait until the second episode (or who knows, maybe the third) to see Dorne and the sand snakes. There are also some rumors on Reddit that all the three Sand Snakes that are signed for this season might not be shown in the same episode. He also makes this point that it might be until the fifth episode until we can see all of Oberyn’s daughters.

So there you have it, we hope this piece hasn’t spoiled the beginning of season 5 for you but with the popularity of Game of Thrones spawning everything from board games to online slots games the interest in this HBO series is so immense that we know many are keen for a taster of what season 5 has to offer!

Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars.
