Liam Neeson: I’ve not been approached about coming back for Obi-Wan series

June 26th, 2021 by Marc Comments

With us all looking towards our TV screens for the upcoming Obi-Wan series, we’re anxious to get any bit of news we can, good or bad.

And tonight we have bad news and good news regarding the series.

First up, Liam Neeson, Qui-Gon Jinn in Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace has, on the Jimmy Kimmel show, confirmed that, no, he has not been approached to return to the Star Wars universe in the series.

“No, I don’t think so,” the star said, while rubbing his fingers together in a gesture saying they couldn’t afford him, before repeating “No, I haven’t been approached.”

Now, we all know this means nothing in the grand scheme as he could be approached after this or he could be lying. As for his involvement in the series, we’d imagine he would either be a Force Ghost or a flashback involving him teaching Obi-Wan when he was just a young Padawan.

Watch the interview here:

In slightly better news, we’re hearing that Clone Commander Cody will be appearing in the Obi-Wan series with Temeura Morrison playing the role he first played in Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones.

This would make sense for several reasons. Cody would likely be a Clone out to track down Obi-Wan, still being controlled by the chip in his head; this is in contrast to the journey of the currently airing Bad Batch series which is about an elite team of Clones who are able to ignore the programming. Cody would likely be a Stormtrooper at this stage in the galactic war.

Of course, while at the moment we still haven’t seen Cody on screen post-Episode II, this isn’t the first time we’re hearing he could appear in a Star Wars series.

At Dragon Con 2018 it was revealed that Cody was originally considered to appear in Star Wars Rebels. In that series, after the team approached Captain Rex, Grand Admiral Thrawn would learn of this and would send Cody, another former Clone Trooper like Rex, to intercept and start the Rebel traitors. Cody would be completely at the control of the chip in his head in this storyline.

So, it’s possible we will see Cody appear in The Obi-Wan series, trying to finish what he began when he shot Kenobi on Utapau.

We’ve heard previously that The Batch Batch chracters and possibly Grogu would also appear in the series… so we’ll keep you all posted.

Would you be excited to see Morrison back as Cody? Would you be disappointed if Qui-gon didn’t appear in the series?

Let me know all yout thoughts, folks…

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
