Tales of the Crypt has been in the pop culture for a long time. Even if you have never seen an episode of the show, the image of the Crypt-Keeper is so iconic that most people would be aware of who that character is.

With all of this in mind, it seems that TNT has officially green lit the remake of the show, which will be supervised by M. Night Shyamalan.

TNT also confirmed the new take will also boast a “newly reinvented” Crypt Keeper ie probably no Crypt-Keeper (see above link), something that was in doubt at one point. The show will feature short and longform stories and is scheduled to launch on the network sometime next year.

I have to say, I am somewhat hesitant about this. The idea behind the show is sound, but M. Night Shyamalan as the show-runner causes me to pause. Shyamalan can be hit or miss to say the least, so putting him in charge of such a recognisable brand is somewhat worrying. Still, we’ll have to wait and see.
