Although Game of Thrones actress Maisie Willaims has said she’d love a chance to play The Doctor in future episodes of Doctor Who after playing the immortal Ashildr last season, it seems the actress won’t be back…. in any capacity.
Talking to Bang Showbiz, the actress said: “I’m not going to be working on ‘Doctor Who’ again. Everyone’s hyping about it, which is very exciting, but I guess that’s more of a publicity thing. But no, I’m not going to return, I have a lot of other really exciting projects lined up instead.”
With Steven Moffat’s final season of Doctor Who (Series 10, fact fans) filming this Spring, it was unlikely we’d see her return anyway: “I had such a wonderful time shooting that series, it was really great to work with Jenna and Peter. It was such a different experience to shoot working in blocks, because I work on ‘Game of Thrones’ and we do everything all at the same time so it’s a different way of working.”
Mind you, that said, as only one of a handful of immortals we know of currently running around space and time in the Who-niverse, it’s always a possibility the actress will return at some stage, but she certainly doesn’t seem to thing so.
Let us know if you’d like to see her return.
