While we have reported on rumours that Matt Ryan might get another stab at playing Constantine in future seasons of Legends of Tomorrow, news has come in that we may be wise to not hold our breath.
Arrow showrunner and executive producer Marc Guggenheim discussed John Constantine’s future in the Arrow-verse and, sadly, it sounds like it has already ended: “Back when Constantine was on, we were talking about a crossover. Then ‘Constantine’ wasn’t on, so we stopped talking about a crossover.
“It took a while. I think it was actually something Matt Ryan and Stephen [Amell] started talking [about]. It was always in the cards. When we were given the character, we were given the character with the understanding and the agreement that this is a one-off.”
Now, Guggenheim does state that at the time it was a one-off which doesn’t exactly mean the character cannot come back but reading between the lines we reckon it’s no longer looking good for Constantine in Legends of Tomorrow.
Is it enough knowing he exists in that universe? Well… that’s debatable.
#SaveConstantineAgain, anyone?
